We literally could not do any of this without the help of our families and loved ones. The kids are involved in every step of the process, from prepping for winter to sowing, harvesting, cleaning, canning, and cooking. Our kids aren't the only ones always lending a hand, we're fortunate to have siblings, mothers, nieces, and nephews that have been a great help!
Jon is our research guide and driving force. A lot of the no-til gardening and permaculture ideas came from hours of research on companion planting and the utilization of space. The daily operations are ran by both owners so most days Jon is also picking weeds, pruning tomatoes, harvesting lettuce or repotting seedlings.
Cassidy is our creative expert and business manager, the goofball gardener literally enjoys paperwork. She addresses most daily operations and is our main home cook who has figured out how to incorporate more homegrown veggies into our lives. Together Cassidy and Jon manage, maintain, and document the hobby farm.
We specialize in cultivating as the cleanest, most natural soil that we can. We began gardening at a larger scale tilling before moving toward more of a no-till or raised bed methods. This requires constantly maintaining a healthy balance in our soil and our plants through attention to detail, constant soil testing, water quality testing, fertilization, and maintenance. We care about the people we love, so we care about what they consume and want to give them only the best, most natural plants that are free from pesticides, insecticides, and chemicals so we use only organic mulch, soil, fertilizer, and nutrients.
We are not on a large farm, although that's the goal, so we have to make do with a limited space. That means companion planting and garden planning. We are particularly attentive to the plants requirements and how they interact with other plants and created a permaculture system in which a wide variety of crops are placed in areas where they benefit one another. This enhances our garden and keeps plants healthier.
We're growing, just like our plants! Our priority is customer satisfaction which we strive to provide through offering some of the healthiest homegrown produce and hope to retain by sharing tips, stories, recipes, and merchandise that tie into our goal of living the most natural and wholesome lives we can. We haven't yet set up an online store front but hope to be at a Farmer's Market nearby soon!
